I did it my way
"…it has complexity, the power, and the class, it also has something that usually belongs to human beings - authority. Respect this majestic creation of the soil."
The words are those of Raphael Gimenez Fauvety. The wine is Drouhin-Laroze's Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru 2006. The authoritative looking man in the picture is William Birnbaum, my friend of fifty years.

On Saturday, we played Anglebrook golf course. Chef Steve grilled our "Schatzie the Butcher" steaks and melded them into a fine meal, which was accompanied by our Chambertin Clos de Beze.
Twenty years ago, Bill, Kathe, Pat and I called L'Ami Louis and asked them to prepare a steak, foie gras, roast chicken and a potato cake for us to take on a picnic to the Bois de Boulogne. Halfway through our feast, we were joined by curious and hungry transvestites, which just made our adventure all the more memorable.
Life is for the living. We urge you to jump in feet first and share your ideas and experiences. Together we can create a better stage for our wine and food to dance upon.
Chambertin was Thomas Jefferson's favorite Burgundy and he paid 86 cents per bottle. In today's dollars 210 years later, the cost would be $3,200 per bottle. VDLT has only 24 bottles of this special wine. We offer you a chance to drink with Jefferson, Franklin, Washington and Monroe – for just $105 per bottle (instead of $500 at the restaurant of your choice). Let Obama drink beer!
